Meet My New Friend, Marla!
Yes, there are TWO of us in this tiny mountain town of Telluride blogging away. Marla Meridith is a lifestyle blogger focusing mainly on cooking and recipes. She even has a cookbook coming out! I’m SO inspired by her passion and website …and I know you will be too.

More About Marla
Before I dive into the outfits, I want to talk a bit more about the sassy and fun, Marla! She has lived here in Telluride for several years and is definitely LOVING the lifestyle. Besides being a very talented cook, she’s also an amazing skier, yoga instructor and mother of two! Think she is high energy?
She asked me if I wanted to ski with her… After seeing her Instagram post about heli-skiing. I was like, um, no thanks! 😉 I’m more like a blue run kind of girl.
Q: You have been blogging for a while now (since 2009) how do you keep things fresh for your readers and for yourself creatively?
A: I’m into keeping up with all kinds of trends…food, travel, fashion, etc. I’m obsessed with watching my favorite Instagrammers (Miss. EB you are one of them!) and I have subscriptions to about 15 magazines. I’m a creative information junkie, the more visually stimulating the content… the better! My 14 year old daughter is also a great source of trends.
Q: Food is your main focus, if you had to pick one favorite dinner recipe that is fairly simple to cook what would it be??
A: My Vegetarian Lasagna recipe! It is SO easy, super delicious and healthy too. Another bonus is that my kids love it, we all know that any dish the kiddos love (with plenty of veggies) is a total WIN!
Q: I know you have a cookbook coming out soon. Was it a long and laborious process? Worth it? And, can you give us a little preview?
A: I’m so excited about my first cookbook: High Alpine Cuisine: Inspired Dishes From Extraordinary Mountain Escapes Around the World
The premise of the book ties back to my love for the mountains. Not only do I live full time in Telluride, CO. But I also travel to the worlds greatest ski resorts on the quest for the finest powder, tastiest food/wine and views. My book is a curation of 75 of my most favorite alpine inspired recipes. They are all super delicious and easy enough to prepare for the beginner home cook.
It was a true labor of love working on it. There were two solid months where all I did was cook, taste, style and photograph the recipes. We are wrapping up last minute details now.
The official release date for my book is August 28th, 2018. It will be easy to find and is already available for pre-order on Amazon here
Q: You’ve been in Telluride for several years now, having relocated from California. What do you think makes Telluride so special and what influences has mountain lifestyle had on your family?
A: One of the most exciting things for me was bringing my kids Leela and Lucas to Telluride full time. The schools here are phenomenal and their access to the great outdoors is unmatched. It’s amazing to live in a place where our kids can really learn how to connect with mother nature. I also love the ebb and flow of tourism that brings in vibrant conversations and access to meeting new people.
Telluride has no shortage of culture, I can compare it on a smaller scale to any large city I’ve lived in…but better!
Q: Are you excited there is another blogger in town?? LOL
A: Oh my goodness YES!! Now I’m not the only person here setting up selfies everywhere 😉 You and I are the only two who make a full time job out of this in our small town, as far as I know. It’s special and fun to have a friend to share this crazy lifestyle with!
Q: Switching gears to style… you are quite petite, any petite styling tips that work well for you that you would like to share?
A: I do really well with Italian clothing and trendier brands. I do not typically shop petites because I don’t really like the styling. I fit well into youthful brands that make very small sizes. Thankfully my size is usually available if I snatch it up quickly. My shoe size is a 6 and thats super easy to find.
Q: Favorite place to shop online is…?
A: Stylebop. I love the way they merchandise and deliver on trends. I can pretty much find everything I want there.
Q: Favorite Telluride shop is…?
A: Two Skirts! Kristin Holbrook (the owner) is an excellent buyer and she’s very in touch with the trends in the marketplace. She also orders plenty of small sizes which makes it very easy (too easy!) for me to shop.
Q: Favorite piece in your closet is…?
A: That changes often depending on my mood and the season. Currently my Goldbergh ski pants (seen on the cover of my book above) and my shearling coats…I own a few, they are the warmest and coziest pieces for life in the mountains. For spring/summer I’m gearing up with lots of flowy, printed dresses!

Styling a Blazer
I loved spending the day with Marla and getting to know her better. After the shoot we sat and had coffee with no shortage of things to talk about!
I am also SO happy there is another blogger in town. Sometimes it’s a lonely gig, so it’s nice to know she is here and we can bounce ideas off each other.
If you want to shop Marla’s look, visit her website here. You can shop my look below.
The black blazer above is a bit longer than a traditional blazer, which I like. I styled it with basics, a button down white shirt and jeans.
