Colorful & Fun Sweaters by Madeleine Thompson
In Telluride, Colorado, I can pretty much wear sweaters year-round. They’re basically a key part of my outfit formula or signature style. (If you missed how to come up with your outfit formula, be sure to go back and watch this video.) I’ve told you all before that I’m not that into prints. I’m actually a print-phobe and feel most at home in solid neutrals. BUT, I also always tell all of you to step outside your style comfort zone. It’s important for me to practice what I preach! Enter knitwear designer: Madeleine Thompson. She is a talented, busy mom of 3, who splits time between Hong Kong and London. I decided to try her sweaters since they spark joy (thanks Marie Kondo for giving it an awesome name.) You can find Madeline’s whimsical pieces at Bloomingdale’s here. They are part of Bloomingdale’s Advanced Contemporary Shop, which I talk more about below. Keep scrolling to see two of my favorite sweaters!

Bloomingdale’s Advanced Contemporary Shop
Bloomingdale’s recently launched its Advanced Contemporary Shop! For those of you who don’t know, Advanced Contemporary basically means affordable luxury. Designers are offering luxury styles at more accessible prices. While the pieces are still pricey, they’re meant to give you that same luxury look and feel for less. Bloomingdale’s Advanced Contemporary Shop is full of gorgeous styles you’ll love! And make sure you check out my recent post with Bloomingdale’s on how to wear brown and black together!
#1 | Leopard Sweater
Now for the sweaters! This first sweater by Madeleine Thompson is a cool leopard crewneck. I love the fit! It’s not too oversized but also not too fitted. You can easily do a front or French tuck into your jeans. I love the ribbing around the neck and sleeves. And, I kinda buried the lead… it’s cashmere so it’s super soft! The jeans I’m wearing are a minimally distressed pair of skinny jeans by J Brand in dark gray. They have very small rips on the knees, a slight acid wash, and a frayed hem. I like how the color makes the boots really pop. And, let’s talk about these boots!! I’m wearing some of my favorite boots by Schutz. They are black snake-embossed high heel boots that are surprisingly versatile. I wear them with jeans, dresses, skirts, etc. They are a STANDOUT for the season!
#2 | Striped Sweater
The second sweater I got is super chic! I love the sporty stripes at the shoulders, down the body, and on the sleeves. It gives the sweater a really modern feel. Plus, it’s very flattering! And it’s cashmere but lightweight so you won’t get overheated.
I styled the sweater with classic dark wash skinny jeans and some brown booties. These jeans are by Rag & Bone and I wear them all the time. They have a, 10.5” rise so everything stayed put! BTW, I plan to wear this sweater ALL ski season! I live in cashmere under my ski jackets.
