Five Simple Ways To Dress Your Age | BusbeeStyle TV

This is one of those topics that comes up again and again.

In this VIDEO, I give you some very simple guidelines to help you dress appropriately for your age.

Here is what it boils down to:

1-Skin Rule
If you are showing a lot of skin in one area, keep your look conservative everywhere else. For example, if you are wearing a shorter dress, wear a long-sleeved top.

1-Trend Rule
Pick 1 trend and 1 piece and keep everything else neutral and basic. For example, if you are going to wear fringe booties, wear classic, dark-wash jeans and a classic cable-knit sweater or white button-down shirt.

Quality Over Quantity
Spend a bit more on your key basics for a more age appropriate, polished, sophisticated look

Tailoring
Invest in great tailoring, especially with pants, blazers, skirts and suits. This small step will make a big impact

Confidence
When you wear a trend with confidence, you will own it. If you are unsure and not confident, it will show

  1. Hi Erin, I recently started reading your blog and was wondering if you could (or have you already) cover the topic of dressing very casually. Unfortunately, my lifestyle, at this point, is such that I don’t need much more than workout clothes. Depressing, I know! I wear scrubs to work and don’t do much outside of work other than exercise and walking the dog and running errands. It really bums me out since I would prefer to dress up. To top it off I am only 5’2″ and most clothing (tops/sweaters mostly) is so long, droopy and hangy (and just generally ugly) on me that I barely have anything to pull together if I do have something more exciting to do. Le sigh. I guess I want to know how to look cute when I have nothing to do!!

  2. Thank you Erin for all the tips. Definitely agree with quality over quantity! I tend to forget that piece of advice and then have clothes lingering in my closet that fall apart after a couple of wears and I can’t quite bring myself to get rid of them. Congrats on your husband’s race! Especially after breaking his hip!!
