First let’s talk about what a midi skirt is…It’s a skirt that falls below your knee and above your ankle. Preferably, just a couple of inches below your knee (most flattering length). I think the taller you are, the easier it is going to be for you to pull this off. If you are petite like me, heels are a MUST.
PAIRED WITH: Okay, so to exaggerate the high waist of the this skirt, I paired it with a crop top. The key to wearing a crop top is showing just a sliver of skin between the bottom of your rib cage and above your belly button…the sweet spot! High-waisted pants or skirts are also a must.
ALTERNATIVES: A fitted black/navy/white T-shirt, blouse, knit, turtleneck, etc, would also work very well if you do NOT want to try a cropped top.
COLOR: I chose black with this skirt, because I really wanted the skirt to be the focal point. Keeping everything else pretty neutral allows the skirt to shine.
ACCESSORIES: I thought about layered pearls, but opted for gold layering necklaces to modernize this already retro look.
SHOES: I finished off the look with some of my favorite ankle strap sandals that are only $43!! Again, adds a modern touch. You can also try pointed-toe, ankle boots, or pumps.
BTW, yes, the skirt is navy, not black, but there is NO reason why you can’t wear black and blue together!
As always, thank you for your support! And thank you for ordering through my sponsored links.
