White Winter Dress?
YES! The old rule that you can’t wear white after Labor Day is just that… old. And, incidentally, no longer valid. You CAN wear white all year. And, it’s even more fresh and unexpected in the winter months. I recently bought this gorgeous white dress by & Other Stories for my trip to Barcellona and I plan to style it this winter with sneakers, boots, booties, and heels…how’s that for versatility? Finding the perfect winter white dress involves some strategic planning and a bit of thought so I wanted to break down exactly what you should look for. And, this particular dress checks all the boxes….here’s why.

#1) Flattering Fit
A wrap dress is a very flattering silhouette for most women. There’s a reason Diane Von Furstenberg became a fashion icon after inventing the wrap dress in 1974 AND it’s still a popular and universally flattering silhouette to this day. The tie waist and wrap front draw the eye to the smallest part of a woman’s body–just under the bust around the rib cage. The tie cinches and defines the waist providing a very slimming effect. The A-line skirt then skims over the hips without being clingy, too tight, or too voluminous. You really can’t go wrong with a wrap dress!
#2) Seasonal One-And-Done
Having a flattering, one-and-done dress in your closet that you can grab and know you’ll feel GREAT in makes getting dressed easy and stress-free. And, you don’t want to compromise comfort or warmth for looking put together and sophisticated. This dress is made of a soft, ribbed fabric. It has some weight to it so it’s appropriate for the season. The long sleeves will help keep you warm and the sweet ruffle at the edge is such a great design detail. The longer hemline provides coverage as well. I styled it here with my Sandro trench, but a neutral or camel-colored coat would also look lovely if you need to bundle up. While light, white cotton fabrics like linen are ideal for spring/summer, you’ll want a dress with a little substance to it to pull off the winter white look.
#3) Versatile
Versatility is another key component of this dress. It’s machine washable (bonus!) which is really nice when it comes to white or light-colored clothing. It’s wrinkle-resistant making it ideal for travel and it can easily be dressed up or down. I styled this dress with my Bottega Veneta Chain Cassette bag (which I bought mainly for spring, but realized it pairs perfectly with winter whites too) and these neutral, Dolce Vita lug sole Chelsea boots. The exact boots are sold out in the cream color, but I linked some similar ones above. You could also wear tall boots, booties, or heels to dress it up even more. It’s definitely one of those day-to-dinner or desk-to-date night types of dresses.
And, it’s affordable! At under $120, this dress is a wardrobe workhorse. It will suit many occasions…great for a holiday or NYE party too! Keep scrolling for more stylish, white dresses that are perfect for winter. They either have long sleeves, high necks, are sweater dresses, etc.
