When you think about wearing denim on denim, your mind probably pulls up the iconic image of Britney and Justin in their Canadian tuxedos at the 2001 American Music Awards. Wearing Denim On Denim Over 40
My one key tip?? Don’t do what Britney and Justin did…Instead, break up the denim with a different color on top! Yes, it’s that simple! You can see in the photos above that I wore a white top under my denim jacket instead of wearing a blue, chambray, or denim top. That small style tip makes a HUGE difference!
This jacket by Retrofete is a gorgeous piece I’ve loved wearing! It’s the perfect mix of feminine and edgy. I love the puffed sleeves and distressing! *I’d size up one size if you have broad shoulders. If you missed the post on how to mix styles like a pro, make sure you check that out here. Under the jacket, I’m wearing a simple white lace cami and a pair of distressed jeans by 7 For All Mankind. I threw on some black booties, a belt, and my favorite gold bracelets to complete the look! See how I styled the same jacket a little differently in this video.
