Listen, I adore a flawless, pore-less moment as much as the next woman. But a full face of matte foundation plus powder is most certainly not part of my daily look. Instead, I’m all about natural, dewy skin tints. And I’m not alone. Walk into any drugstore, Sephora, or beauty retailer and you’ll find that nearly every cosmetics line has added skin tints to their product list. Why are they so popular?

Why Skin Tints?
These are just a few of the skin tints I tried. (And trust me, there were plenty more!) As a super-sheer alternative to traditional foundations, CC/BB creams, or tinted moisturizers, skin tints incorporate the ‘treatment’ element of skincare serums into their formula. Textures are lightweight and easy to apply, with just enough pigment to make the skin look even and glowing yet totally natural. Many contain active ingredients such hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and even SPF. Some are water-based serums with silicones to function as a built-in primer. While other formulas deliver oil blends offering barrier-protective lipids, antioxidants, and vitamins found in beauty oils.
Multi-Task, Hydrate & Prime
No matter the formula, skin tints are ideal for more mature skin types. They provide moisture and protection, while minimizing fine lines and pores. But though every makeup line offers some sort of skin tint, finding one you love might be challenging. Fortunately for you, I think I may have tried them all. Some I loathed (and returned, thank you Sephora and Nordstrom). But I also found several winners worth sharing.
