Our family had a very exciting trip planned to Africa this spring that we canceled for obvious reasons. I was pretty upset, but I am thankful we’re healthy and still getting quality family time at home!
In a recent video, I asked if you wanted to see what I would have packed for an African safari, and you overwhelmingly said yes! I’m sharing those items and what I ended up keeping below. When shopping for Africa, my inspiration was Meryl Streep’s character in Out Of Africa. Have you seen it??

#1 | A.L.C. Dress
I decided to keep this gorgeous A.L.C. dress because a shirt dress is pretty versatile, and I knew I’d wear it again…even if it is just around the house for now! It’s a beautiful tan color, has a flattering belted waist, and the length is perfect (I’m 5’4” for reference). The utility trend is very popular right now and I was excited to find this elegant option!
ROMPER | MORE SIZES |SIMILAR NECKLACE | SIMILAR SHOES
#2 | Green Romper
This green romper by Pistola also goes along with the utility trend. The longer inseam (5”) is age-appropriate so no need to worry about it being too short! I love the buttons down the front and on the sides, and the pockets! I’ll be sharing more utility trend favorites in a post next week!

#3 | Self Portrait Strapless Top
How fun is this strapless top by Self Portrait!? It’s the perfect mix of sexy, modest, and chic. It has a flattering belted waist, cool pockets, and zipper up the front! It’s so unique and cool. I’ve paired it here with white jeans and wedges.

#4 | Rails White Button-Down & Rag & Bone Hat
I planned to take my favorite white button-down by Rails. It’s 100% cotton so it’s lightweight, comfortable, and super cool! I’m wearing it with another item I would have taken…the white Rag & Bone hat! I have this hat in another color but loved the white too! I shared more about this shirt and another by Rails in this post.

#5 | Marissa Webb Shorts
These Marissa Webb shorts are from last summer and are sold out at a lot of places so I linked similar options for you. I love the super high waist and paper bag style! I paired them with my favorite sleeveless top by Frame and some Vince Camuto mules. Find more photos of this outfit here.
SNEAKERS | FOR LESS | SIMILAR JEANS
#6 | Golden Goose Sneakers
I know these are a splurge and when I bought them, I did not expect to like them! Now…I’m hooked! They’re SUPER comfortable and these have a fun platform I love!
#7 | Brown Sandals
I’ve been wearing these sandals all spring and summer. They look a lot like the Saint Laurent pair but are a fraction of the price! And they’re comfortable and versatile! I shared these and other great slide-on sandals in this post.
#8 | White Tee
A white tee is one of those items I pack for ANY trip that I go on! If you missed it, I did a video review 10 different white tees in this video. I featured a bunch of white tops in this post too if you want more ideas.
What Else I Would Have Packed

I always love to find some new pieces when I go on a trip. It somehow enhances the whole experience for me when I really “Look” the part. Does that make sense? Do you do that too?? Please share in the comments.

dear Erin
You always make me feel better with your lovely videos !
I was humiliated at the grocery store for trying to buy 2 packs of paper towels
There was no sign and I could not know that I was walking into such an unpleasant situation Thus the new normal has slapped me in my face and it still hurts !
Oh well at least I am still well and counting my many blessings !
You are one of them !
Thank you!
I’m so sorry, Theresa.
