The Perfect Combination
If you bought my Style Guide, Style Made Simple, you’ll already be familiar with your style type. Some of you are classic, others romantic, and some a combination of several styles. I’ve always called my style, edgy elegance. I love ladylike and feminine pieces with clean lines and I always add an edgy, modern twist. I think feminine pieces soften up more masculine styles. I love the combination. Below, I’m sharing a chic, edgy outfit that demonstrates what I mean and how to easily recreate edgy elegance. But, remember, stay true to YOU and your style. It’s totally fine to recreate outfits, but add your own twist or your own spin. Or perhaps just think about your go-to combination.

Shoot Location
I LOVE this shoot location! I took these photos at Cibolo Creek Ranch outside Marfa, Texas. It’s the resort ranch where Chris and I got married by the justice of the peace named Cinderella! Isn’t that the cutest? The ranch was made infamous by the sudden death of Justice Antonin Scalia. He was actually staying at the ranch when he died.

Edgy Elegance
The feminine piece in this look is the beautiful white ruffle blouse by Gibson. The ruffle shoulder and neckline, as well as the chiffon and pleating, gives the top an elegant feel. It’s also super versatile. You can wear with jeans, pant or skirts! It’s an elevated basic.
I paired that pretty top with some super edgy army green pants by Marissa Webb. No one does a utility-style (pants, skirts, jackets) quite like Marissa Webb! I’ve never met her, but she seems WAY cooler than me. She is also very talented and beautiful. I’m a fan! (See how I styled a pair of her shorts in this post and another pair of green pants in this post.) These cropped pants have a paper bag waist that ties in the front and has a ring closure. I love the silver button fly and lace-up detail on the back of the pants. There are so many details on these pants that add to the cool, modern vibe.
I finished off the look with my favorite pair of wedge sneakers by Linea Paolo. They’re cool, give a little height, and come in a ton of colors! I’m giving away a pair of Linea Paolo shoes in one of my 12 Days Of Giveaways here. These are my go-to travel shoes so I like to come up with outfits that work with these sneaks while I’m on a trip.
Style Types
Before I talk style types, a quick note about these socks. Do you see them in the photo above? With the cute camo print? They are the perfect bootie, sneaker sock. I wear them so much, I wear them out quite quickly. The brand is called Living Royale and you can find their prints here. (I mostly buy marble, camo. The prints are pretty crazy.) There are some prints on Amazon here too. I like the glow in the dark stars. I found these socks in one of our local Telluride boutiques called Sublime.
Back to style types! I wanted to share a few specifics about the edge elegant style combination.
