I shop A LOT. I mean a lot! It’s a huge part of my job so I’m technically a professional shopper. Pretty much every day, I’m browsing my favorite online retailers to find the best new fashion finds to show all of you! I have a few go-to places I like to check for super chic pieces to elevate my style that I want to share with you…
I’ve also written posts on the best retailers for curvy women, tall women, and petite women.
#1 | Intermix
Intermix is my go-to retailer for high-quality, and often, luxury pieces. I can always find a really unique piece I don’t see anyone else wearing. I will say that most of the inventory is pricier but if it’s in your budget, this is a great place to shop!
#2 | Express
For more affordable pieces, Express is my favorite! I’ve been shopping at Express for 20 years and love the quality and style! You can get really trendy pieces if that’s your style. Or grab basics that can really elevate your look! Express has short, regular and tall pants and jeans which really helps if you need a special inseam length (like me.)
#3 | Shopbop
Shopbop is another retailer that can be a little pricier depending on what you’re shopping for. They have a good mix of high and lower-end pieces and trendy and basic pieces. This is a great place to check if you need a dress for a special occasion or a new top for date night!
#4 | Nordstrom
Nordstrom is a go-to for just about anything! They have everything from basics to special occasion pieces and more. Plus, they have some really great, high-quality brands that are affordable. A few of my favorites are Halogen, Gibson, and Topshop!
#5 | Revolve
At first glance you might think Revolve is only for younger woman. The models on the website show a LOT of skin and there are a ton of really tight fitting, short, cropped pieces that are not ideal for those of us who are a bit more mature. BUT, I think if you are strategic with your picks and carefully select pieces that are ‘age appropriate‘ … it’s an absolute candy store of fashion! BTW, sometimes women get offended by the the words, ‘age appropriate’ so I feel it’s important to clarify. You can wear whatever you want. Truly. Whatever makes you feel like a million bucks. Whatever you feel confident in… go for it!! By ‘age appropriate‘ I’m talking about slightly longer hemlines on dresses and skirts, skipping dresses that show a TON of skin and opting for those who maybe only show one area of skin or maybe longer sleeves, more strategic silouhettes. Those are just a few examples, but again, you can wear whatever you feel amazing in!
For Basics
If you’re looking for very classic basics, I suggest Banana Republic, White House Black Market, Everlane, and/or J. Crew. I always suggest looking for basics that have some sort of unique detail that elevates it. But if you’re just starting to build your wardrobe with the basics and trying to figure out what your style is, those three retailers are great options! If you haven’t gotten your wardrobe basics checklists, make sure you subscribe to my newsletter here.

You’re So welcome, Michelle! I’m glad I can help! xo
My favorites are Anthropologie and Evereve! I’ve recently discovered some great pieces at Abercrombie and Fitch too.
stay strong, it’s really difficult for “alanon”-type people to get flack after stating their opinion. You are a wonderful blogger and I always love your content. Please ignore the “haters” they are just showing their fears. I am 64. I am retired and cannot afford many of your suggestions, but I still base my attire on your suggestions. I just do it on a less expensive scale and with many of the clothes that I already own. I get many compliments on some of your style choices. Thank you for helping me update my life. Again, stay strong. your daughter will thank you for it. I already do.
Thank you so much, Sandy. Your note is really wonderful and helpful… Erin xo
