I’ve been a Colleen Rothschild fan for years so it should be no surprise that my top three favorites skincare products of the year are by Colleen. I’ve tried a LOT of product…I mean A LOT…like an embarrassing, egregious amount of skincare. So you can trust me when I tell you that these are the best of the best and that they actually work!
Oh, and I buried the lead…all of these products are on sale right now.

#1 | Retinol Supreme Eye Serum
This is by far my favorite anti-aging must-have! I use the Retinol Supreme Eye Serum to keep my eyes looking youthful and to combat crow’s feet. Retinol is the gold standard ingredient for anti-aging. If you’re looking to combat the signs of aging over 40, you should be using some sort of retinol (unless you’re pregnant, of course). I use this in the morning and evening. It acts as an amazing primer for concealer too. You’ll LOVE this. I pretty much guarantee it.
How To Use:
Use at night after cleansing. Gently pat it around the eyes with your ring finger.
#2 | Face Oil No. 9
I have two strikes against my skin: 1) We live at 9500 feet in one of the driest climates in the US …and 2) I’m 46
Face Oil No. 9 is one of Colleen’s best sellers and my favorite face oil…period. It’s SO good! The smell, the texture, the feel… everything is amazing! It’s not too greasy and it absorbs quickly. It smells heavenly. During the winter, I mix it with the Extreme Recovery Cream for ultimate hydration! You can find more pointers on how to hydrate your mature, dry skin here.
How To Use:
Massage 3-4 drops into face, neck, and chest after cleansing. Best to use at night. Combine with Extreme Recovery Cream for extra hydration.
*Don’t forget to put any excess product on the backs of your hands and chest.
#3 | Radiant Cleansing Balm
Last, but certainly not least… Radiant Cleansing Balm. As you get older, it’s better to use gentle cleansers and exfoliators. I basically ONLY use balms and oils to cleanse my face now. This cleansing balm is a long-time favorite I go back to over and over again! The texture and smell are amazing, it’s hydrating, and it gets all of the makeup and dirt from the day off with ease! You can sample it with Colleen’s Discovery Collection or if you love it as much as I do, you can even grab a jumbo size now.
How To Use:
Apply gently to your dry face, even over eyes. Then wipe makeup off with a warm, wet muslin cloth that comes with the cleanser.
My Promise…
I realize that there are SO many skincare products out there and also mixed messages about which ingredients are the most effective. It’s confusing! My goal is to make things as simple as possible for you. I also want you to know that I ONLY promote products that I’ve tested and love. That’s my promise!

LOVE LOVE Rothschild cleansing balm!!! It smells and feels amazing! I am excited to try the eye serum. Will order today!!! Do you have a concealer you can recommend?
Hi Sarah! I use a color-correcting product first. I LOVE Naked Color Correcting Fluid(pink) and then finish it off with the tiniest amount of It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. Erin xo

Have you used ubeauty products? Curious to hear your thoughts.
Hi Courtney…I have not yet used ubeauty. ~Erin xo
This year I discovered Good Molecules Super Peptide Serum. I bought it completely on a whim because it showed up with another thing I was purchasing. For all of $12, I didn’t expect much from the claims of helping with fine lines and so on. I figured it’ll feel good on my skin and probably add some hydration. It does both of those things AND has helped with the fine lines!! I recently went online to repurchase as I’m running low and it’s sold out everywhere! Maybe I just got lucky and found something that works for my skin but I definitely recommend anyone give it a try.
I am surprised that you did not include sunscreen in your top skin care items. I use Elta – recommended by my dermatologist as the ‘gold standard’. They make a number of formulations.
Hi Gayle! Yes, sunscreen is SO important. My favorite is Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40. It’s clean and good for all skin types. Thanks for your feedback!
I am an aesthetician, 50 in five months and a ZO (Obagi) addict. For anti-aging, I have never found a better product. It is import to stay primarily within the same line when using cleanser, exfoliator, toner and moisturizer to best maintain the PH of your skin. I always instruct that discipline in any line you find that works best for you. My other go-tos are Skin Ceuticals and SkinMedica. I make my own HA and vitamin C serums, and use SkinMdica’ TNS Serum diluted with HA while I microneedle each month. None of these lines are necessarily economic choices but at this age I would rather wear cheap shoes than have bad skin. Women think I am too young to have a 22 year old and men think I am still in my thirties. Love your blog and thank you for sharing your knowledge!
