I can confidently say that I am now an expert on snow boots and cold weather gear. For those that don’t know, I grew up in Watertown, New York. Dubbed “Snowtown USA.” After living in Watertown, I spent some time in Syracuse and Rochester… perhaps even colder and snowier climates before moving to Manhattan where believe it or not, I thought it was balmy. đ
After marrying my husband, Chris, we moved to Texas for 8 years. And several years ago, we moved to Telluride, Colorado where snow and cold are the norm. And, the sidewalks and roads can easily turn into ice rinks!
So… you are getting the point… I know cold. I know how to dress for cold, snowy weather. BUT, as a wardrobe stylist, I also like to look stylish. Even my cold weather gear has to be the perfect mix of fashion and function.
In this post, I want to share my snow boot knowledge, including some city chic weatherproof options to help you keep those tootsies toasty!! If you are like me, as you’ve gotten older, your circulation has gotten worse. Warm shoes and boots are a MUST.

These Are The Best Snow Boots!
Youâve probably seen women on Instagram wearing rain boots with cute socks peeping out as a cute snow outfit. Hereâs the scoopâŚif you want to truly keep your feet warm and dry, that does not work. Rain boots are NOT snow boots! For real snow boots that actually keep your feet warm, go for a stylish waterproof boot with good tread from brands like Sorel, Aquatalia, Columbia, Blondo, La Canadienne, and Ugg.
The things I look for in a great pair of snow bootsâŚ1) they have to be waterproof or water-resistant, 2) have great treads 3) be easy to get on and off and 4) bonus if they add some height!
Find my top 10 favorite snow boots and weather-resistant city boots below…

Sorel Joan of Arctic Wedge Boots
These Sorel Joan of Arctic wedge boots are waterproof, have amazing tread, and theyâre comfortable! Theyâre perfect for anyone who lives in a wet, snowy climate or is taking a trip somewhere that is. I love the wedge because it gives me some height but theyâre still super easy to walk around in! Wear these with warm, but thin, wool socks to keep your toes toasty.

Sorel Joan Of Arctic Boots
These Sorel boots are the most popular Joan of Arcticâs and come in multiple color options. These are the warmest and meant for the most severe weather. My only beef is they don't add height and they are heavy.
3
Sorel Hidden Wedge Boots
Can you tell I love Sorel boots yet?? These Busbee best-sellers are another great pair of snow boots with a wedge. I love the side zip that makes them super easy to get on and off. And like all Sorel bootsâŚthe tread is amazing!
4
Sorel Cate Lace Up Boots
These lace up boots are the ones I got in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this yearâŚI love them! I have the color âRedwood Leatherâ thatâs unfortunately sold out. But I also love the colors Blackened Brown, Major, and Black. The heel on these is super manageable and theyâre easy to walk in. Snow boots have come a long way, right??

Aquatalia Water Resistant Booties
These are the only boots in this post that are water-resistant instead of waterproof but theyâre so gorgeous I had to share! These are the perfect city chic boot you can wear if you live in Chicago, New York, Boston, etc. Theyâre dressy and polished and I love the patent leather! I used to walk to work in Manhattan in all kinds of weather, year-round, and I would definitely invest in a pair of boots like these.
6
Ugg Wedge Boots
Uggâs are among the warmest winter boots. They are also VERY easy to get on and off. BUT, beware the tread. They traditionally do not have the best treads. If I wear Ugg's in Telluride, I would add Yax Trax. These add grip. These also aren't the best in the snow, but again, they are so comfy and warm that I love wearing them.
7
La Canadienne Snow Boots
La Canadienne is another great company that makes city chic weatherproof boots. Don't let this chic appearance fool you, they still keep your feet super warm! This is a western-inspired suede boot that has a moisture-wicking lining to help keep your feet dry!
8
Moon Boots
If youâre the queen of après ski, these Moon Boot snow boots are very 'on trend' right now. I love the white and faux fur on these boots. Pair with some leggings and a cashmere sweater for the perfect apres ski look.
9
Columbia Minx Snow Boots
Every time we've done a snow boot post, you the reader have recommended these snow boots by Columbia. They get the job done and have a pretty streamlined look.
10
Blondo Leather Chelsea Booties
Blondo is another brand that has city chic styles! This pair is waterproof, has a pointed toe, low heel, and comes in patent leather and three different python prints. I really like the wool lining in the Blondo boots that keep your feet quite warm.
Real snow boots for real life! We cold climateers have more than one pair for different purposes and varying degrees of cold. These give a lot of different options. The right boots matter when you spend half the year in them.
