Black & White!
According to Harper’s Bazaar, the black and white color combination is a big trend this year. You’re probably thinking, “But Erin, black and white is neutral…how can it be on-trend??” Well, this year, we saw black and white on the runways in bolder and more dramatic ways. Think stripes, polka dots, and geometric prints…but taken up a notch. While I don’t think you’ll be wearing something quite as dramatic as pieces found on Comme des Garçons runway, there are some really chic and sophisticated ways to wear the trend. I’m sharing two black & white outfit ideas below…plus, some tips on pulling it off!
If you’re interested in how to mix prints, find all of my tips here.

How To Rock The Black & White Color Trend
- Grab a piece that’s already black and white. I like to call this the anchor piece. For example, the skirt I’m wearing above already combines the two colors. I’m linking more of my favorite black and white anchor pieces below…
- Stick to a color story. Luckily, black and white are so neutral and versatile, they’re easy to style. But sticking to only black and white will make you look more sophisticated.
- Alternatively, you could add a pop of color to your black and white look with a handbag, statement shoes, or jewelry. But this option is for the self-proclaimed fashion-forward and should be done carefully!

Look #1
In this first look, I’m wearing a chic black and white geometric print midi skirt from Mango. It’s selling out fast so if you see it in your size, make sure to snag it! I love the longer midi hemline, flowy but flattering A-line fit, and cool print. I stuck to the black and white color story and styled the skirt with a basic black bodysuit, my Balmain blazer, classic black pumps, and a pearl statement necklace. This is a sophisticated look you can probably recreate with pieces you already have in your closet…all you need is the perfect black and white anchor piece!

Look #2
For the second look, I’m styling the same black and white skirt more casually. I’m wearing the same black bodysuit but instead of a blazer, I threw on a black leather jacket. I also have on some heeled booties but you could make it even more casual with sneakers or flat boots.
