Brown Suede Tall Boots
If you are a regular reader, you’ve probably noticed how I’ve been slowly switching my wardrobe from blacks and grays… to softer neutrals like brown and beige. I’m doing that for a couple of reasons: #1) I love clothes. (obvs.) …and #2) I think neutral shades are often more flattering on mature women. I turned 45 this summer, but I swear I feel 30. Sometimes I quickly glance in the mirror and think, “Who is that old lady?” Anyone relate? 😉 In that split-second, I’m reminded that my actual age and how I feel on the inside don’t quite match up.
I’m having fun building up brown and beige basics and I found a few gems recently by Vince Camuto that are SO good, you will be psyched to wear them!

#1 | Brown Knee Boots
These boots are GORGEOUS! They’re the Modesie Cone-Heel Boot from Vince Camuto. They have a cone heel, almond toe, and are made from a beautiful suede. The boot shafts also have side-zips so they’re easy to take off and put on. I have them in “Seed Brown Verona” but they also come in black leather, dark gray, and burgundy leather. Like all Vince Camuto shoes, they’re insanely comfortable!
If you’re going to buy only one pair of tall boots this fall…get these!

#2 | Brown Handbag
The next neutral brown accessory that will be a big staple for me this season is the Robin Tote. I took this handbag with us to Gage’s lacrosse tournament in Santa Fe and it carried EVERYTHING! I carried my wallet, sunglasses, phone, scarf, stuffies, snacks, extra puffer, and a heck of a lot more! This is the perfect mom tote. It comes in three colors but I love the beautiful cognac brown color. It has cool jeweled hardware on the handles and pretty gold grommets on the side.
You can carry this bag as a tote on the shoulder or as a crossbody with the longer strap.

#3 | Brown Open-Toe Booties
The Kehrey Notched-Heel Bootie is the perfect brown suede bootie to wear with skinny jeans! They have a wider base, which helps to keep the jeans and booties from conflicting. I love the peep-toe for transitioning to fall. And the cutout on the heel gives it an edgy, geometric look.

My Fabulous Photography Assistant!
I took these pictures while we were in Santa Fe, New Mexico for Gage’s lacrosse tournament. I shot most of these pictures in the beautiful main plaza. When I saw the sun cresting over this gorgeous pink building, I felt like I hit the lighting jackpot. Nothing quite a dreamy as a sun flare shot (below)!! As most of you know, I took my own blog pictures for years before I started regularly hiring professional photographers. I still shoot myself when we travel. I thought it would be fun to take Bitty with me to help me with the shoots. She genuinely loves learning about photography and as you can see from the photo above, she loves posing too! I think we both do. 😉

I love your collection selections, but then I live on Georgian Bay in Canada and its not quite as high as the colorado rockies, but it is older, and colder!!! as am i – but in my DEFENSE of using you as my muse, i have recently lost 187 lbs (post surgery from auto accident) and cannot identify who is the old skinny broad in the mirror – so i don’t look in the mirror or check with erin and see if i won’t shock the cat and dog!!!
One small suggestion for your devoted followers (and I assume there should be many): your selections tend to be higher end then some of your ladies might find it, if they wish for ‘all’ your suggestions – up here in ontario (like one of your states) we have fashion/cosmetic/perfume clearances close to special days/dates like christmas, mothers dat, easter/spring launches – they are drastically reduced items in huge clearance centres (foci) for only a few dates.
50%-85% reductions Ex. lisa cosmetic/perfumes… have someone check it out and compare – perhaps worth it.
Please keep the referrals coming as up here we sometimes only get the 2nd/3rd tier products unless we are in downtown toronto. love your honestly and even though you are 20+ years younger, please do not be offended as when I use your help, i am embarrassed by the sheer volume of compliments. i am a bit different – a blue eyed blond -(on one of my earlier PASSPORTS it says brown eyed, natural br. hair- YOU HELPED ME FIND MY NEW SELF)!!!!!!!!!
HI Erin! I’m new to your blog. 51 yrs mom of three in northern Canada. sorry about the caps lock, tablet is insisting! I hear you on the harshness of black on a mature woman. I have a gage too! My oldest son. Love your blog and vlog!
Oh, I love that! Where did you come up with the name, Gage? We named our Gage after the Gage Hotel in West Texas. I also thought it was a great, tough, boy’s name.
Love the pictures and the outfits
Thanks so much, Iris!
Loving the look on all outfits and those boots. I definitely need those. Thanks for always bringing great ideas.
Thank you Cindy. They are great and so comfortable.
Everything is gorgeous.
Love the brown and white. gorgeous images, what a captured opportunity. love your life! And the Bitty “Flight” was a perfect touch. And yes, I so relate…my reflection at times is not what it once was, then I remind my self “Age is a privilege that is denied by many” repeating that ensures all my mirrors are still intact. I do keep a hammer close by though, so my method my change soon. ~ always with ya sista! XO bunnie
Love ya, Bunnie!
I too love the brown & white look, it feels so clean AND STYLISH. I think I’ve wore too much denim in my many years and will leave it for the young. we deserve glamour, and white is pure glamour (in my aged mind). I am thankful all of our role models are ours and not just for rodeo drive and milan and the champ elysse (does carnaby street still exist?) Bless all!
