How many of us need a vacation after our family vacations? Sorry kids—but traveling with your best girlfriends is the way to go! Everyone can take care of themselves, there’s no pressure to keep everyone entertained, and laughing so hard you pee your pants is much more fun than a two-year-old peeing their pants. I’ve recruited the help of Randy Stern, my best girlfriend and travel partner, and president of Stern Travel Group in Miami. Together, we’ve compiled a list of 5 of the most fun girls’ getaways—husbands and kids not invited. So, clear your schedule and pack your bags, because you’re going on a domestic girls’ trip!
#1 | Spa Retreat: Lake Austin Spa Resort, Austin, Texas
Escape the demands of your daily grind by embracing rejuvenation with your posse at this secluded, lush green oasis. The resort offers the luxury of a world-class spa with the warmth of a best friend’s lake house. Relaxation begins with a scenic, 30-minute water taxi ride from downtown Austin. Then choose from group fitness experiences such as paddle boarding, yoga, or hiking. You all may opt to chill out with French-inspired healthy menus, hand-picked wines, and chef-led cooking classes. Stay in your robe and your complimentary flip flops throughout your entire stay. You can even wear your robe to the dining room for lunch and dinner!
#2 | Musical Retreat: Union Station Hotel, Autograph Collection Nashville, Tennessee
Grab your cowboy hat and boots and head for some Honky-Tonk fun with lots of live music and Southern comfort food. The boutique Union Station Hotel is as deeply rooted in Nashville as country music. The stunningly restored 100-year-old historic hotel is the ideal place to stay. It’s only steps from top Downtown Nashville attractions, so no Uber needed. And since Music City is known for country, jazz, and blues clubs, you and your girlfriends will be in the heart of all the action.
#3 | Sunshine & Cocktails Retreat: 1 Hotel South Beach, Miami, Florida
What girls getaway list would be complete without basking in the warm, sexy Miami sun? The opulent 1 Hotel South Beach boasts eco-friendly rooms complete with reclaimed driftwood walls and organic cotton sheets. Each room is also furnished with Keetsa mattresses and HEPA filters. Enjoy dining in several on-site restaurants, or high-end cocktails from the rooftop bar. But no doubt, the real stars of this trip are the gorgeous oceanfront pool with beautiful beaches. Rounding it out is fabulous shopping destinations and heart-pounding Latin nightlife.
#4 | Spiritual Retreat: Miraval Resort, Tucson, Arizona
If you and your girls are looking to step out of your comfort zone for mindful escape, connection, and enlightenment, Miraval is the perfect place. The 400 acres of imaginative experiences are surrounded by the beautiful Catalina Mountains and the Sonoran Desert. Unique spiritual experiences include floating meditation in a silk hammock, sound and vibrational healing using Tibetan bowls, Equine meditation with, you guessed it—live horses—just to name a few.
#5 | Let Your Hair Down Retreat: The Aria Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada
The pandemic may have us wearing our masks in public, but it won’t stop the fun on the world-famous strip. If you’re looking for a sleek modern resort where you can place some bets, party poolside, and massage away your stress—The Aria Resort and Casino is the perfect place for your girls getaway. The Liquid Pool Lounge is the premiere adults-only poolside party with a live DJ. Recoup the next day in their five-star rated spa with a Shio Salt room, therapy pools, and heated stone Ganbanyoku beds.
