Holiday Table
Holiday Table Tips | Creating a Festive and Cozy Holiday Table
I know I am a little late to this party.
But, my goal is to share tips, so hopefully you will not have to go out and buy anything.
If you do need a few quick things, I suggested some ideas below.
You could also just pop into Target or Home Goods for inspiration.
If you want another table setting idea… check out Alicia’s of the “The Lush List” tablescape.
She created a gorgeous and elegant table.
I love seeing other people’s decor and ideas.
Everyone has their own unique point of view.
I consider mine rustic, cozy and festive!
Pick a Color
The first thing I would do when creating your holiday table, is pick a color scheme.
Colors will make your table look more cohesive and elegant.
I am always partial to silver and gold, but you could easier throw in red or green!
Blue and silver would be really unique and beautiful too!
Linens
Consider a table cloth to add a lot of polish and elegance.
I am not that fancy, so I prefer to show my rustic table and add a table runner.
Well, actually two table runners.
I started with my jute one and then layered my polka dot runner over it.
It adds texture and dimension.
The Details
It’s the little things that make your table SO special and unique!
And, also more “You!”
On my table this year (above), I used sparkly snowflakes along the table runner, which the kids really love.
I bought them at the grocery store.
I also used gift tags as place holders for everyone.
These stands from Amazon hold the gift tags.
They are SO affordable, and you can order extra to label drinks, foods, apps, etc if you are hosting a big family dinner.
I did that one year and it was a big hit.
Try Chrismas tree gift tags to mix things up (see pictures above).
Get Creative
You don’t have to go out and buy everything.
Try working with things you already have in your home.
For example, I’m using the same jute runner with gold sparkle that I use for Thanksgiving.
I layered a gold polka dot runner over it which adds even more texture and interest.
I also used ornaments as part of my centerpiece.
I just added them to glass vases of varying sizes and shapes.
Centerpiece
You can go big with one main focal point, or group 3 to 5 objects of varying sizes.
I used a glass tree set form Costco, along with gold glittery ornaments and candles.
I have two groupings of 3 to 5.
Candles
I have 4 candles on my table.
Glass, gold or silver votives would also be GORGEOUS along the runner too.
Candles add ambiance, light, scent (if scented)…they really help to create an overall feeling and festive mood.
Place Setting
I went to Home Goods a few years ago, and bought some elegant, simple white plates with gold and silver trim.
(You can easily use plain white plates.)
I think the simpler, the better.
You add pizazz to your place settings by putting chargers under the plates.
Mine are gold plastic. I bought them at the grocery store.
Maybe some day I’ll upgrade to a nicer quality, but for now, the plastic ones are just fine!
The napkins, and napkin rings add the final elegant touch to your place settings.
