Being a working woman, especially a working mom is synonymous with being busy, particularly in today’s fast-paced, Instaworld. As a result, intimate relationships often get taken for granted. It’s not that we don’t value our partners, it’s simply that there never seems to be enough time in the day to get it all done. So how do you make time for each other when there is none? Turns out, there are a lot of creative ways to make time for your partner when you’re busy. The fun part is, most of these ideas are based on doing things that you have to do anyway… so why not do them together?

#1 | Run Errands Together
We all have to run errands. Since that time is gone from your workday anyway, why not use it to spend some time with your partner? My husband and I do the grocery shopping together weekly. You’d be surprised how picking out shampoo and produce together turns into conversations about menu prep and stay-at-home date night.
#2 | Cook Together
After you’ve connected over the groceries, pop open a bottle of wine and put on some music while you get busy—in the kitchen, of course. Spice things up and try to prepare an international dish together. Not only is this a fun way to spend your time together, but it also promotes teamwork. If all goes well, you’ll have a romantic date night meal at home that you both prepared, and if the food didn’t turn out the way you’d hoped, you’ve created new laughs and memories together.
#3 | Workout Together
Another practical way to spend more time together as a couple is by becoming workout partners. John Raglin, PhD, professor of kinesiology at Indiana University, conducted a study that showed couples are more likely to stay with their exercise routine if they work out together. Couples also work out harder together than they would solo. So, do an at-home couples’ workout, start running in your neighborhood, hit the hiking trails, or get your bikes out. Whatever you choose, these healthy activities will promote a healthy relationship.
#4 | Shower Together
Typically a very private act, showering together builds trust and promotes being comfortable with each other both physically and emotionally. Showering together will also give you the chance to explore the playful side of your relationship. And let’s be honest, it can be very sensual, leading to some really fun foreplay.
#5 | Appreciate Together
Showing a little appreciation only takes a few minutes and can come in many forms. My husband leaves post-it notes with funny or loving messages on my computer, ensuring I start the day with a smile. Picking up a little something for your partner on your way home from work can also go a long way toward reminding you both that even though you’re busy, you still love each other.
#6 | Tech-Free Time Together
Most of us would agree that our phones have become an extension of our arms, even when we’re not working. So, is your phone good for your relationship? On more than one occasion, I’ve heard from friends that their partner has phone-snubbed them at the dinner table. Reduce those chances by removing distractions when spending quality time together and showing your partner they have your full attention. Instead, explore some fun couples’ games to reconnect.
