Sexy Sweaters
Who says sweater weather has to be boring? Just because we’re smack-dab in the middle of winter doesn’t mean we have to cover up and wear frumpy clothes. Noooo! As 40+ women, we can and SHOULD feel good in our skin. Sexiness starts from within and knows no boundaries when it comes to age or season. I wanted to share a few sweaters that will have you feeling put together, confident AND sexy. This doesn’t have to mean skintight and cropped (necessarily) either. What makes them sexy? Cutouts, an exposed shoulder, slouchy and effortless silhouettes, and/or luxe fabrics like cashmere that are soft to the touch. Bright-colored sweaters are sexy head-turners because they are unexpected. These are all perfect for a date night or even wearing with jeans for an elevated, everyday look.
You can turn up the sexy at any age! We have some tips here to get you started…

Sexy & Sophisticated
When you style the sexy sweater, keep in mind the one skin rule. If you show skin in one area, try to keep other areas covered up. Let’s start things off with the sweater I’m wearing in the photos above. It’s a comfy, rib knit, off-the-shoulder sweater with a bralette strap peeking out. The exposed shoulder is what gives this outfit some sex appeal but it’s definitely more of a modest kind of sexy. I paired it with an uber-feminine skirt and edgy boots for an unexpected mix of styles. Keep scrolling for some sexy sweaters that cover it all (or not!) from mostly modest to downright va va va voom.

1
Subtly Sexy
If you are looking for a sweater that is more subtly sexy, this is a lovely choice. The front cut-out is low, but not TOO low and you can still wear a regular bra underneath.
2
One-Shoulder Drama
The sleeve detail is beautiful and I love the dramatic one shoulder on this sweater.
3
Shrug Set
Sweater sets have really made a comeback and I love the sneaky sex appeal of this shrug set. The pieces can be worn separately for added versatility. I linked a few others that also caught my eye...
4
All Out
This mock neck, one-shoulder, fitted sweater is more in that va va va voom category. It comes in 4 colors including a gorgeous hunter green.
5
Slightly Sexy
If you are looking for something more modest, this sweater by Johnathan Simkhai (a favorite designer of mine) reveals just a bit of skin.
6
Deep V
The deep V neck is offset by the looser and slouchy sizing. It is cropped in the front but with high-waisted jeans, you won't be showing too much stomach. This one comes in a pretty light purple too!
7
Pretty In Pink
Such a bright and fun color! I can see this working beautifully with denim or a sleek pair of black pants. It's definitely more fitted. Love the underarm cutouts and sparkling metallic detail.
8
Backless Stunner
From the front, it's just another elegant puff-shoulder sweater. But from the back....wowza.
9
All Zipped Up (Or Not!)
I like how you can control the level of sexy here by leaving the zipper ALL the way down with a lace bralette or cami peeking through or, zip it on up for more coverage. This would be a great day to night option!
10
Slim Fit
This ribbed, slim-fit sweater highlights the bust while still keeping things (mostly) covered. I especially love a camel-colored sweater with white, black or blue denim.
11
Unexpected Detail
I love the detachable hem with button closures on this Jonathan Simkhai sweater. You can leave a few buttons open to reveal just a sliver of skin. The rolled, scoop neckline is super flattering!
12
Twist Front & Reversible
I had to share this colorful sweater because I love to brighten up a winter wardrobe with fun colors. It's a very affordable (and reversible!) sweater by Express.
