Ann Taylor!
When I was working as a wardrobe stylist, I knew that each woman’s body was different which means they needed different fits, materials, etc. Ann Taylor was one of the two stores I went to every single time to help them complete their wardrobe basics checklist. They have everything! They have different fits including tall and petite, their famous tropical wool fabric that works year-round, and they make clothes that work well for women over 40. You can tell that they really consider hemlines, sleeve length, etc. to make very tasteful, sophisticated, and elegant pieces. Ann Taylor isn’t necessarily the place to go for trendy pieces. But great for high-quality, modern basics.

Look #1 | Blouse & Pencil Skirt
If you work in an office, you will need three key basics That I’m wearing above… a classic white blouse, beautiful pencil skirt, and a high-quality black blazer .
White Blouse
A white blouse is a definite must-have basic! You can wear it in its own or layered under a jacket. This white blouse has a ruffle neck and is beautifully tailored. The length and lightweight fabric make it easy to tuck into pants and skirts. Above, you can see that I’m wearing the white blouse backwards! I did that because I felt like the shirt buttons competed with the buttons on the skirt. I wanted to mention that so you might look at your tops and blouses a little differently. Fun, right? You can also pair this versatile blouse with pants, jeans, and skirts.

Pencil Skirt
I love the fit and the length of this pencil skirt! And it comes in petite! The sailor buttons on the hips are a fun touch and very flattering. This skirt is a great basic so you can swap out the blouse for anything else you have in your closet too!

Blazer
If you don’t already have a high-quality black blazer in your closet…get one! It’s a must-have, not just for the office, but for every day. I wear my black blazer to dinner with jeans and a cute top all the time! This blazer is made of really high-quality material. It’s versatile and will work through the seasons.

Look #2 | Blouse & Jeans
This would be my work style uniform if I worked in an office! This second look is great for a casual Friday at work … especially when heading straight from the desk to dinner! I’m wearing the same white blouse, but now it’s flipped around! I told you you could wear it both ways…and you can’t even tell! To style the blouse more casually, I went with these black jeans. They are high rise and have sculpting pockets that are designed to make them SUPER flattering. I love the three-button detail on the waist. Ann Taylor is a great place to find jeans and pants because they have tall, petite, and curvy sizing in a lot of styles.

Pumps
Another basic you should absolutely have in your closet…classic black pumps. If any of you have every shopped at Ann Taylor for shoes, you know how AMAZING they are! Every pair I have are so incredibly comfortable! These are the perfect pumps for women with an office job … they are comfy and the heel is manageable. They are classic and chic!

Jewelry
Yes, jewelry is also a basic! You need some classic pieces you can wear to work that aren’t overpowering but still have impact. The necklace and earrings I’m wearing do just that. They’re subtle, but beautiful. The necklace is very sleek, modern, and clean with bar links. The earrings are classic hoops but have cutouts to make them a little different.
