I Tried These 5 TikTok Inspired Beauty Products and Here’s What I Really Think
TikTok Beauty Products
Do you ever feel a little weird shopping for yourself in Forever21 or the BP section of Nordstrom? A little out of place and a little guilty all at the same time. That’s how I feel about TikTok. But despite any misgivings about going down rat holes of Hot Pot Sauce and Andrew Garfield, there are a host of beauty products on TikTok. In fact, there are tons of beauty trends, products and unusual how-to’s on a daily basis. And even though they are courtesy of Gen Z, I had to investigate. I ordered at least 20 or more products. Some were absolute duds and not worth mentioning. But fortunately, I did find a few clear winners. So, here’s my honest review of these trending beauty products on TikTok.
Speaking of reviews, did you catch my honest thoughts on Ultherapy? You can read all about my experience and see my before and after photos, here.

Laura Geller Baked Color Correcting Foundation
This powder-based foundation is targeted for mature skin. It’s formulated to balance and brighten skin with the ‘ease of a powder and the benefits of a cream’. I ordered shade ‘Light’ along with the retractable kabuki brush. Perhaps it was the wrong shade, but my skin looked muddy and dull. It accentuated a couple of dry patches and caked a bit throughout the day. I wouldn’t repurchase the foundation, but I do like the retractable brush (ideal for travel). You may like this product if your skin is a bit oily, or if you just prefer a matte finish.
This color-correcting full coverage foundation comes in 16 shades (labeled warm, cool or neutral) and contains hyaluronic acid, collagen and peptides. It also boasts SPF 30. It’s been sold out for a couple of months, so I was happy to find one lone tube at Target. I chose shade ‘Light 210N’ though I might have been better off trying ‘Light 240W’. I applied it with my favorite foundation brush from Rare Beauty and was immediately impressed. For $14, you get a nice, even coverage. Satin (not dewy) texture. It wore pretty well throughout the day. Great product to have in your rotation.
There’s nothing new with using white eye pencils to brighten the eye area. But this creamy formula makes it easy. It’s not dry or irritating...Which may explain why this product is so hard to find. We are talking waitlists for a $5 eye pencil! But using it on the waterline (inside your lower lid) really makes the eyes pop. I really liked it best as a finishing touch. Definitely a great buy.
This line is all about makeup artistry. Creamy, rich textures and an inclusive range of colors. This trending new palette (choose either cool/rosy or warm/nude) features four dewy shades that can be worn on cheeks and lips (I use it on my eyes too). I chose the warm/nude palette called ‘Dew it Undercover’. This lives up to the hype! Dewy, glowy and so creamy! I took this on a recent trip to New York and wore each shade separately and blended together for lots of different looks. One shade on lips, eyes and cheeks for a monochrome look. Or wear the dark tone as a contour and the lighter shade as a highlighter. Love, love this!
You know I’ll try anything in the name of fresh, dewy skin. The TikTok ‘before and afters’ were hard to resist. Yet I’m really picky about what goes into my permanent skincare routine. But WOW, this exfoliating enzyme peel is excellent. It comes in a powder form that you simply mix with a tiny bit of water until it foams. You use it as you would any cleanser. Massage it in and rinse off. There’s no need to leave it on for the active ingredients to take effect. I used it after my first cleanse, about every other evening. It leaves my skin super smooth and very glowing! Excellent product that I will 100% continue to purchase and use.

I personally love the Laura Gellar Baked Balance and Brighten Foundation. For me, it’s perfect because my goal is usually to simply even out my skin tone without looking heavily made-up. I usually use a primer underneath but not always. If I go heavier with my makeup for a special occasion I use it lightly over my creamy foundation to set everything. I always make sure I have a supply of it on hand.
For reference: I’m almost 60 years old and tend to have dry cheeks but a slightly oily forehead and nose.
