If you can thank the global pandemic for one thing… it’s the rise in popularity of more comfortable clothing. Comfort clothing is not just acceptable now, it’s actually on trend! As in… ‘seen-on-the-runways-on-top-models’ fashion trend. (You can ready more about fall fashion trends here.) But, today’s loungewear is not simply the baggy sweats we once dared to don only in the privacy of our homes (or in college). Today’s loungewear is chic and tailored in the most beautiful, high quality fabrics. Today’s loungewear can take you from the couch to the curb in five minutes while still keeping you stylish. I think you will agree… this is pretty freakin’ awesome!
In honor of the couch to curb movement, I’ve put together this perfect, sneaky loungewear outfit below that seriously feels like you are wearing pajamas!

Loungewear Outfit Formula
The perfect loungewear outfit consists of three main pieces and one important tip…the first piece you must have for the perfect loungewear look is a pair of pants that feel like pajamas. The second is a chic but comfy tee or top. And the third is a pair of stylish but easy-to-wear shoes.
Okay, now onto the MOST important tip.
It used to be, I need to be able to answer the door and not feel embarrassed. I would ask myself, “Can I answer the door in this?” Now, I’m kicking it up a notch. The question I ask now is, “Can I run out for a quick errand in this?” 😉
Perfect Pants
And the answer is… “Oh… YES I can!!!” Ha! I literally wore this outfit lounging ALL day and then ran out to the store and walked Travy too.
The key is your couch to curb look definitely starts with next level, comfortable pants. And more specifically, comfortable pants with… an elastic waistband! These wide-leg pants by ATM are SO good. They have a stretchy fold-over waistband, they’re high-waisted (very flattering), and the material is so soft like your softest cotton t-shirt. The waistband itself is also super wide so these pants are great for hiding a tummy. These are the perfect pants to wear for travel, lounging at home or popping out for a few errands, and sleeping (yes, they’re that comfortable!)

Comfy Tee
With the pants, I’m wearing a t-shirt by Treasure & Bond that’s also super soft and comfy. I love the added design detail of a puff shoulder so it’s a ‘not-so-basic’ white tee. This t-shirt comes in two other colors and it’s only $39!

Stylish Slippers
On my feet, I’m wearing some slide-on sandals by Rag & Bone. They have a memory foam sole so they’re unbelievably comfortable. The straps across your foot are spongy too so they don’t cut into your feet. It’s basically like wearing your slippers…but you can actually leave the house in them! I mean…what more could you want?

For Errands
Add the three items above together and you have the perfect loungewear outfit formula. But if you need to pop out for a few errands, elevate the look by throwing on a few chic accessories like a pair of cool cat-eye sunglasses and a luxe handbag. These are the finishing touches that really distinguish my sneaky loungewear outfit and make it look legit. I’m carrying the Bottega Veneta chain cassette bag…if you missed it, make sure you check out this post with my full, honest review of the bag.

You always look great, but I am just hating these boxy clothes and clunky shoes. Another frustrating thing is that ever now that flat shoes are in style, they have still managed to make them uncomfortable. The soles are flat like a board, while feet are curved and have an arch. I will be skipping just about all of the trends that are happening now, just because they are so unflattering.
Thank you! No need to go boxy or chunky. Remember the runways show exaggerated versions of the trends. If there is a trend that’s speaking to you (ie cable knits) you can look for more streamlined fitted versions. They will be out there, I promise.
As for shoes, there are so many streamlined booties and heels available this season, not just clunky lug soles. You are right about flats… I have trouble finding great ones too… Such a hold in the market. I can promise that I’ll be keeping my eyes out and will share any gems that I find. xo
Erin..love those pants on you. So sophisticated and classy. My kind of look.
