Wear Now, And Later!
If you are like me, you might struggle a little with clothes right now during this strange in-between time. Summer is winding down so it’s that time to start transitioning to a fall wardrobe. But, the weather may not feel very fall-like. For many of us, the day starts out chilly and ends up getting pretty hot mid-day or you may live in a warmer climate where it’s still super hot and busting out the fall wardrobes now seems silly. In this post, I want to help you maximize your wardrobe and feel more confident in the in-between… through strategic styling tips.

Transitional Style Tips
A top like the one I’m wearing above is a great jumping off point for helping you think about extending your summer wardrobe.
1) Swap Shorts for Pants or Jeans
This top is very lightweight and summery, but I can make it transition effortlessly, by simply swapping the shorts for jeans. This is the easiest way to transition all of your summer tops!
2) Wear Boots or Booties
Another really easy way to make either summer tops, skirts or dresses look more seasonally appropriate, swap your sandals for boots or booties. I love a white cotton top with some cool brown boots and jeans. It’s a fail-safe outfit combination that looks chic and also maximizes your clothes. You can also wear your booties with a summery dress like I am above.
3) Add a Layer
Add a moto jacket, blazer, or a bomber over your lightweight, summery top or dress to make it more appropriate for the fall season! It’s actually great to have that cotton top or dress under your jacket so if it heats up in the afternoon, you can easily ditch your extra layer. Look at the photo above for reference.
4) Under a Dress
This tip is a little more obscure and unexpected, but I love to add a lightweight summery top under a sleeveless dress for a thoughtful, stylish, transitional outfit!
5) Try a Scarf!
You can always layer a chic scarf over your summery top to make it look more fall-ready. Another quick and easy option…? Try a sleeveless turtleneck. It looks like fall, but feels more like summer. 😉
